Episode 2: The Sanctuary

Dorion, Zakuro, Tuya, Sasha, & Trunks finally made their way onto the Fairytail Property. It caught everyone by surprise; gasps and a sense of relief came over the group of survivors. How was a place as this hidden so well, let alone the condition it has been in this entire time? Trunks pointed out to the group that this place was well hidden in a bubble because beyond the walls of Fairytail, you could see the destruction. Dorion nodded and explained that the warding upon the manor kept this place free of harm. Dorion explained that the warding also protected the grounds the house has been built upon so he can grow herbs and vegetables. He also mentioned to the group that if they ever wanted to relax outdoors they would be safe to do so.


Before everyone went inside Trunks approached Sasha. Trunks told Sasha that he did not trust her and that he felt that she was lying to the group. Fearful of Trunks, Sasha tried to let him know that she was of no danger to him, that she was seeking sanctuary. Dorion looked back and tried to reassure Sasha that she was safe here. Dorion couldn't understand why Trunks felt such a way to her. As concern shrouded over Dorion's thoughts, he felt that he needed to break the ice among the survivors. Dorion thought it would be a good time for the group to go inside the manor.


The group made their way into the main halls of Fairytail. When the group entered a large Amethyst Chandelier hung from the ceiling and to the left of the group, there was a bar with tables, and bar stools. There was a hidden doorway near the bar which lead to the manor's kitchen. To the right of them, the group saw a largely empty stage with seating. A few asked questions about why Dorion lived in such a place alone. Dorion shares with the group that this was the home of his Fiance's family and that they were once involved with the Ul'Dah government. Dorion explained that sometimes important meetings or government holiday parties were celebrated within this manor. The group asked questions about if certain government officials were still alive, and how he was able to survive on his own. Dorion shared how he was unsure of the government's conditions in the calamity but, he did share that the previous owner of the manor was a botanist and how she had many seeds of plants over the years. Dorion also shared with the group details on the black markets of The Wolves Den however, the group failed to ask him about the manor's further history.


After Dorion introduced the survivors to the main floor of the manor, the group began to speak with each other. Tuya continued to play with her skull friend that was named Charlie. Trunks felt uncomfortable by Tuya's obsession with the skull, Trunks figured it was due to being left in such worldly conditions. Dorion paid close attention to Zakuro as she was the quietest among the group due to her nonverbal conditions, Dorion often asked her questions directly to make sure she felt safe. Zakuro nodded often just letting Dorion know that she was okay. As time passed, Dorion thought that the group may be hungry; he went to the kitchen and fetched the group Popoto Soba and Doman Tea. Trunks asked if he could help Dorion but, Dorion refused the help. He wanted his guests to feel welcome and that at this moment they were safe from the outside world's danger.

The survivors were grateful for their first warm meal in a long time. The Doman Tea was soothing and had a zesty taste due to the persimmons that brewed the tea leaves. The popoto soba soup was hearty but, warmed their bones from the chill of the outside world. For once everyone was satisfied with a well-cooked meal (Even Charlie ate food!)


After the group finished their meals Dorion decided that they would need to rest so he brought the survivors downstairs to the now converted Living quarters. He explained to the group that it use to be a huge meeting area but as the beginning of the calamity, his fiance turned it into a haven with bedrooms, a bathhouse, and an infirmary. She had hoped that one day it would serve those who would need it. It seemed like today would be that day. Dorion went into a cabinet in the infirmary and gave each group member some fresh clothes from the cabinet to give them something clean to change into. Dorion felt that they have been exposed to the elements for so long that it was the least he could do for them. The group was grateful and took the clothes from him.


Both Sasha and Tuya headed off to the shower room to clean their bodies of the calamity grime. Both ladies were so happy to feel warm water for the first time in so long. Trunks gratefully also went on his way to clean up and changed into the clothes that Dorion provided him. He admitted that as a soldier he would not normally wear something like this but, it felt good to him to get out of that gear even if it was for a moment. It seemed that Zakuro was a bit hesitant to do anything so Dorion and Trunks took it upon themselves to reassure her that she was safe. She soon decided to change out of her gear (with Trunks' protection) into the new clothes given to her.


After their showers, Sasha and Tuya decided to take a relaxing seat by the fireplace as Dorion fixed a fire for them. The women were thankful for his hospitality and sat in complete silence. As Tuya sat there she explained that she was tired. It seemed that many of the survivors were overcome with sleepiness so Dorion showed the group to the rooms so that they may lay in a bed. Sasha and Tuya shared a room while Trunks and Zakuro shared an unusual experience of trying to sleep. Dorion smiled knowing that he was able to provide them shelter in a safe place. Although it was late in the evening, Dorion was not tired and decided to go up to his Fiance's former office. He decided while everyone was sleeping he would try to get in touch with E'ra once more.


While everyone was asleep Dorion spent the majority of his evening looking over maps and trying to get in touch with E'ra. E'ra was his fiance's friend and ally and she too shared the gift of Echo. Dorion had told the group prior that she was the one that found them all. Dorion knew that she was able to speak with Hydaelyn and that Hydaelyn chose the people here in this home. He was unsure if they were fit for what Hydaelyn needed but, she would not like him. After hours of trying to reach E'ra Dorion was finally able to get a static-like response.


As E'ra tried to speak to Dorion he could hear a battle and the Viera shouting that she was tracking "The Weapon." The Weapon was a tool left by Luminara and Hydaelyn to free the world from the Calamity. When the Calamity occurred, The Weapon was hidden on the planet to keep it safe from the Red Veil and the Beastmen who wished to possess it. E'ra had been tracking it for months and it seems she had finally stumbled upon it. However, her path to the weapon was dangerous and she was calling frantically for backup. Dorion shouted in fear trying to see where she was but she could barely say much. She had mentioned that her companion Dean was nearby Camp Dragonhead, she begged for Dorion to get the survivors and go find him.


It seemed that Dorion's shouting woke the group and Trunks was the first to come running up the stairs. He could see the distress in Dorion's eyes and he tried to calm the young man down. He knew that Dorion was unhappy and he wanted to try and help him out. Dorion began to explain E'ra situation to him and Trunks said that they should head out and find her.


As the two men spoke Sasha, Tuya, and Zakuro entered the room as they too heard the commotion from downstairs. Dorion sighed and decided to sit the group down and explain the whole situation in its entirety. He explained to the group that they were destined to come to Fairytail and that they had a gift from the warrior of light. The Warrior of Light gave them a part of her when she died and somehow she connected to their souls in hopes that they would survive and fight those who caused the world pain. The group was unsure how that could be as none of them had met her before. Dorion explained that hidden in this house was Luminara's Final Aetheryte and that it held just a portion of what would make them strong. He explained that The Weapon E'ra was searching for, would help unlock their full potential. However, it seemed that she had run into a huge roadblock. The group agreed in helping Dorion find E'ra so they pray to Luminara's Aetheryte so that they may get a bit of the power they would need to fight the darkness.


After a long journey through the lands of Eorzea, the group made their way into the abandoned Camp Dragonhead where they found E'ra's companion, Dean. Dean explained that during the search for The Weapon he and E'ra regretfully split in hopes of searching lands faster as the Red Veil's Powers was getting stronger. This infuriated Dorion and the survivors, so they joined Dean in hopes of finding E'ra. Dean explained that the last signal he got from her was that she was heading out West towards Behemoth's Dominion. The group set out west to go find E'ra.


Along the way West the group was ambushed by what seemed to be an ice Dragon. The creature was large and definitely caught the group by surprise. Fearful of the dragon Sasha ran to hide causing Dorion to run after her to protect her. As she ran it set off the dragon as it was ready to attack her. Dean, Trunks, Tuya, and Zakuro stepped up to the plate to fight the dragon. With their combined efforts they fought a long battle with the creature. The Ice Dragon had almost critically hurt Dean however it was Trunks that jumped into action taking a final blow to the Ice Dragon.


Dorion and Sasha met up with the group once more and they gathered themselves as they continued west to find E'ra. The path along the way was filled with broken trees, branches, wolf tracks, and blood. The smell of blood was overpowering and the group felt uneasy by the sight. Dorion kept following the path in hopes to find E'ra. When the group arrived to an area called, Snowcloak Dorion could see E'ra sitting on top of the large cave.



Both Dorion and Dean ran ferociously up the hill in hopes to save her. E'ra was covered in critical wounds and she sat in a pool of her own blood. The woman of the party looked in shock and Dorion screamed out to her. E'ra's kind eyes met with Dorion and Dean as she tried to explain that she did her best to fight. She looked at the group happy to see that they were all together, even if a few of the members were yet to be found. She explained to them that this was only the beginning to their journey and that there was more to come. Trunks tore clothes in order to try to stop the bleeding but she explained to him that her time had come. She thanked Dorion and Dean for all that they did for her and that the Weapon was here. She tried to explain that the weapon had a guardian. When the two men tried to ask her her body fell lifeless to the ground. Dean held her cold body in sadness. The group of survivors fell silent, saddened by the loss of the woman who brought them all together. Before they could have a chance to mourn suddenly a large roar filled the air causing Dorion to look up to the snowy skies.
