Episode 28: Trouble On The Horizon

Since the battle in the peaks a week has passed, and The Legacy has been recuperating at Fairytail. Since The Legacy’s return, the focus was on Ruby and getting her back to good health. Ljrn had been spending countless hours trying different treatments and medications to get Ruby back into good health. She was often seen for just a few moments daily to either bathe herself or have a quick meal. With Ruby still down Zena, has offered assistance to Ljrn whenever she needs it. When Ljrn is attending to Ruby, Zena will often keep others away from the infirmary and clean anything that Ljrn asks her to. Whenever Ljrn goes to rest, it is Zena who stays close to Ruby and writes down any movements or things she notices about Ruby so that Ljrn can attend to her again once she is conscious. There was a part of Zena that felt extremely guilty about what had happened, and she wanted to do all that she could to help Ruby get better.



There was a cloud over Fairytail and although they were successful in restoring Fairytail’s Aetherial shield the event in Ruby’s injury affected the rest of The Legacy. With Zena feeling the most guilt a part of Dorion felt hurt that there was only so much he could do to comfort her heart and he often turned to Yue for advice. Yue was more of a father to Dorion and his family and he wanted to do all that he could to be the man their family needed. He saw a great deal of what Yue did raising Leric and Jai that he too wanted to make all that he could possible.
   Another person who felt the same way about Ruby was Trunks; he often checked in when he could while also working on ways to improve the aetherial shields around Fairytail. He often used the workshop as a way to keep himself focused while the rest of The Legacy did what they could to learn more about Death and the primals that were Eorzean bound. Jayne was ahead of the research team sending Leric and Jai out to scope where Eorzeans were returning to or where the beastman were gathering to summon primals. It wasn’t an easy job to do but, someone had to make it possible.

   There was one member of the team who felt uneasy about the situation as a whole. Shiva would help where she could but, often felt as if she didn’t have enough to contribute to the cause. Shiva often battled with the thought that her resurrection was only to assist in taking out the darkness and with her memory mostly clean of her travels, she often turned to textbooks to try and regain what she needed to know to help everyone out. She knew she wasn’t much help in the workshop with Trunks, so she often turned to cooking meals or making coffee and teas for the rest of The Legacy. The young mage was starting to feel like a housewife instead of a fellow warrior.



On this particular morning, Shiva was cleaning a shelf of wines and mead when she saw Dorion come upstairs and sit by the bar. He lit a cigar to himself and seemed to be deep in thought. Shiva cautiously approached him and asked if everything was okay. Dorion nodded and said that things were fine at the moment he knew that Jayne was hard at work on something and did not want to disrupt her call.  Shiva noticed that Dorion had come from downstairs and asked if there was any change with Ruby. Dorion lets Shiva know that there haven’t been any updates and a part of him felt guilty that he wasn’t able to do anything for her. Shiva agrees and knows that it is now in Ljrn’s hands to help Ruby get better.

   As the two discuss what they have been feeling, Jayne makes her way down the stairs with information of her own. She greets the love of her life before bowing to Shiva and lets them both know that there are still Red Veil members on the move. With Eden dead, the word was spreading fast, and people were beginning to try to return to their former homes. However, with returning home they are still running into broken factions of The Red Veil, and they are afraid they will be enslaved by the beastman once more. Dorion begins to wonder who still stood by his father’s virtues and if so, how many of them were there?


Jayne expresses the same concern that it could be a low-level member or some of the officers that once stood by Eden. Dorion knew that with his brother dead, Leric and Jai as scouts, and Yue now guarding Fairytail there weren’t many others who jumped out at him that could still create such havoc. As the two of them discuss their concerns, Shiva mentions that if they were to rid the rest of Eorzea of the primals, Red Veil members, and Death they would need the whole crew back together or it would be just another way for more of them to get hurt. Jayne agrees with Shiva’s statement and expresses how they would not go into battle unless provoked but, they needed to scout what was out there in the first place. As Jayne talks to them Jai calls her linkpearl and Jayne excuses herself from the room once more.

   Meanwhile, outside of Fairytail Master Yue Akane sat on the roof feeling the evening moonlight rain down on him. The air was silent with only a gentle breeze but, the silence is what always caught his attention. He knew it would be a matter of time before thieves or people would return to The Goblet and establish what they had or what areas they could claim. As he watched from above, he could see two miqote women sneaking around the outer walls of Fairytail. He watched as they seemed to walk easily through the front gate which amused him. Yue swiftly jumped down from the roof to land right in front of both women. The two sighed knowing that they were caught and judging by his stature and weapon it was safe to not cause any problems right away.


Yue closes his eyes which makes the girls wonder what he was doing but, he stood by the door for the longest time waiting to go in. Inside of Fairytail Dorion tells Shiva to go upstairs with Jayne and uses his linkpearl to call Trunks out of his workshop. As Trunks makes his way out of his workshop Dorion tells Trunks that Yue was outside however he senses two more bodies with him. Dorion suggested they be cautious for the moment and see what Yue was up to. Dorion walked to the front door and opened it slowly seeing Yue holding a series of weapons and also two miqote female by his side.

   The first female wore a Sea Pirate attire and had a patch on her eye. From initial first looks, Dorion was assuming she was part of the Eorzean military and was of high ranking. The other female miqote was also dressed like a soldier however, her gentle features and pink hair seemed to catch his attention for the moment. Trunks decided to approach in a different tactic than normal and welcomed the two women inside. Dorion followed suit and welcomed them as well and asked if they came a long way. The two women nodded that they were and decided to introduce themselves as did Trunks.


The Miqote with the eyepatch introduced herself as Tefh whereas the pink-haired miqote was named Anthi. The two of the women were members of The Maelstrom prior to the collapse of Eorzea. This pleases Trunks as he was a Storm Captain himself and it was nice to meet people that shared similar ideas to his own. Dorion curious by their arrivals asked if there were more soldiers like them around? Both note that there are some around, but it is hard to come by these days as with most people now. Trunks eager to welcome the two women walked them to the bar where they could discuss moreover a nice ale or wine.

   Dorion begins to bring glasses over and asks if the women prefer a particular liquor. Anthi did not want to drink and asked if they had milk at all; Dorion goes to the kitchen and gets some buffalo milk that he had had in the icebox and poured her a glass. Tefh wanted rum with lime which The Legacy was able to have on hand as well. Dorion poured himself a glass of Lohmani Red and when he had asked Yue if he wanted a drink, he declined as his focus was on Tefh and Anthi for the time being.


As everyone sits and drinks, Dorion poses the question of how Tefh and Anhti had come to The Goblet in the first place. Tefh says that she had seen their cart out on the road and they weren’t the smallest group, which raised suspicions of her own. Anthi agrees and how she thought that the best course of action was to follow Tefh and see what they were really up to. Dorion explains that it was good of them to look out for Eorzeans but, he promised both women that their group had no ill intentions. Dorion decided to explain that they were in the house built by the Luminara Family and that this home once served as a council area. Tefh nods and mentions how she is very familiar with the name and remembers hearing of The Warrior of Light; she even recalls hearing of the name and how she had passed some time ago.

   Dorion explains to both Tefh and Anthi that Luminara was presumed to be dead however, it would seem that the evil that consumed this world was behind her disappearance as well. The two seemed confused by what Dorion had implied but they did not doubt it as the world they had known had become so odd. Yue leaves the women’s weapons with Dorion as he decides to go upstairs for the time being. Yue feels that the women needed to see this for themselves so he decided to go upstairs to get Jayne.


Jayne comes down the stairs and introduces herself to Tefh and Anthi and welcomes them to her home. Tefh is surprised to see that Jayne is alive and asks for a second drink to make sure it's not the liquor talking. Jayne assures Tefh that due to Eden and The Red Veil a lot of things don’t seem normal, and she is doing her best to understand it all as well. She explains how for 5 years she lived a slave to Death, and she felt trapped in her own mind. Death used Lady Famine to control her every move and even when she wanted to move, she was unable to do so on her own. Full understanding of what The Legacy has been up to fascinates both Tefh and Anthi.

   Jayne admires having both women here however, she knows that there are still some things that need to be taken care of. The women want to hear what she has to say so they sit and tell Jayne that they want to know what she knows. Cautious Jayne is unsure to share information but, judging by the looking on Dorion and Trunks’ faces she had a feeling they could be trusted. She once more presses on her linkpearl just to see what Yue thinks and he took feels that they aren’t just some passersby ready to cause trouble.  Jayne says that Jai was able to track down Red Veil members within the Western Thanalan region as they were just outside of the area. From what she understood, Jai has taken out some of the operatives that were already there…it was one last member he was having a hard time even facing. Dorion looked with concern as to why Leric was not there but, as Jayne advised he was sent elsewhere to get more information as well.

   Jayne also mentioned that if it was someone strong, Jai wasn’t capable of fighting alone. She didn’t want to remind those who were present, but she mentioned Zena had no real ability to be out there; it would be the same for Jai. Tefh listens to what Jayne has to say and would like to aid in taking out the Red Veil as they had caused so much pain for all who lived in Eorzea. Anthi was also willing to make it possible in fact she was ready to rush out the door. Trunks get the women’s weapons together and head to his workshop to grab a few things.


As everyone gathers to head out, Shiva makes her way down the stairs to meet with the rest of the group as well as she had been away as Dorion suggested. The two reintroduce themselves to Shiva and she learns that they have a mutual understanding of the situation they were all headed into. Shiva looks to see that Trunks was not present but, Dorion told her not to fret that for once he did not rush ahead.

   As everyone prepared to head out Jayne said to Dorion how a part of her wished she could be out there fighting alongside him but right now her magick had yet to return. Dorion kissed her cheek and held her close saying that her time would come someday. For now, it was up to The Legacy and their new friends to make all things possible so that everyone in Eorzea could have a life once more. Jayne watched as The Legacy took off with their two new allies to go meet with Jai.


Dorion got onto Azul’s carriage while Trunks opted to ride his bike once again. This gave Shiva some time to talk to Tefh and Anthi. Shiva admires them being members of the military. Tef mentions how it has been some time since she and Anthi were able to do something like this and to aid, The Legacy was something she was willing to do to see Eorzea strive. Dorion admired her words and said how when things can return to normal how he hopes that amazing people like her are able to rise to the ranks again. Shiva mentions how if she wasn’t in the state she was in so long ago, would she have been better helped to those to prevent this all from happening, but Tefh says whether it was Garleans, or The Red Veil war is always going to be a thing and those who fight when they can. Dorion follows Tefh’s words mentioning that what they are all doing now is a war against evil and even though they don’t have a military title they are doing all that they can.


The journey to Vesper Bay wasn’t long and from the look of things the area was still a bit empty. Dorion could sense at some point there were bodies here as the smell of blood was faint and present to him but, not a dead body or sign of struggle insight. Dorion knew that Jai was one to clean up but, for once he did it pretty secretively. The group followed behind Dorion as he made his way to a building with a red bandana on it; Dorion signaled for everyone to follow him.

   Once they made their way inside Jai was sitting on a box in thought and rose to his feet when he had saw the others. Shiva introduced their new friends to Jai, and he welcomed them to their work. Dorion can see the anguish on Jai’s face which was an indication that this would not be an easy task. Jai tells Dorion that there is an upper Red Veil official in Crescent Cove who is working with Lady Death.


Jai lets Dorion know that the member that is Crescent Cove is someone he knew all too well and it was a Red Veil member named, Mika. Mike had been working alongside some beastmen using Crescent Cove as a port to bring crystals in and out of the ports which would indicate that Death is planning on summoning primals soon. As Jai and Dorion spoke, Shiva noticed the look in Dorion’s eyes that this Mika person wasn’t just a member but someone he knew. When she asked Jai mentioned that Mika was Delgado’s guardian. Dorion says that it would be most likely her wanting to seek out revenge on Delgado being dead.

   With all of this talk of the Red Veil, Tefh asks Dorion and Jai how they are so familiar with all of this and how all of these names sound familiar to her. Dorion decides to tell the women that his father was King Eden and he never wanted for any of this to happen, but it did. Trunks and Shiva stepped in to let the women know that Dorion had not been a member for quite a number of years now and since his departure, he was doing all that he could to see them fall. Once they heard this, they seemed to be interested in helping once again.


Dorion and the group discussed some strategies on how to find Mika or how to approach her and Dorion could see the hesitation in Jai. Jai and Mika were once very close and Dorion knew that it would be hard for him to fight against her when his heart is in one place. Dorion suggested that Jai take Azul to a safe place and wait for further instruction in case anything else were to occur. Jai agrees and waits as the rest of the group heads to Crescent Cove.


The walk to the cove was careful and the group was unsure of Mika would be there with others. Anthi took to the rocks to see if she could get a vantage point of Mika with the description that Dorion gave her. Dorion listens her anyone else but does not see anyone there. Anthi confirms with Dorion that no one was there but she could see a boat way out to sea which would indicate that another shipment of crystals probably left the shores. With deep concern, Dorion knew that they were going to have to take Mika out if they were going to put an end to The Red Veil. Anthi decides to take matters into her own hands and asks Dorion if she could make the first move. Dorion nods and allows Anthi to move in on Mika as the rest of the group watched on.

Anthi remains silent for a moment as she pulls the rifle from her back, licks the tip of her thumb, and then presses it against the end of the barrel before she takes a knee. She takes a deep breath and slowly exhales, squeezing the trigger. In that instant, a thunderous crack fills the area as dust flies all around her as her first shot pierces through the air and moves to strike the Miqote. Mika who was looking up at the sky feels a bullet strike her in the shoulder. She turns around fast and sees that there are guests at the cove. She looks at Anthi angrily and shoots into the air falling into the waters behind them; it was then that Dorion knew no words would be spoken and they would fight her head-on.


Anthi leads the fight once more and decides to be the first to face Mika. As Anthi flies through the air she spins yet another round between her fingers and slides it directly into the chamber and pushes the bolt forward again. Once more she fires, dust flying all around her from the recoil. Custom-made rifles. The bullet strikes Mika causing her to yell in a fit of rage. Following Anthi Tefh steps to Mika ready to fight. Tefh draws her sword is a bit strange straight and its handle is that of an Eorzean short sword or rapier, but long, slender, and two-handed like an eastern blade. And like her blade, Tefh's style is equally unusual. As she approached Mike Tefh swung for the woman's gut, intentionally missing to make her flinch before slamming her left fist into her nose.


Trunks stepped off the bridge into the water around him. As the rain pelted him, he stared into the eyes of Mika. He rushed in dodging her attempts to strike him until he spun into a side flip wrapping her arm in his leg as he slammed the butt of his rifle across her cheek knocking her off balance. Shiva followed suit to feel Mika lash back at her drawing her claws out to fight. Seeing Shiva in danger Dorion rushed in and took a shot from Mika on her behalf. Wanting to take revenge on her earlier wound Mika tosses a small hand grenade knocking Anthi down into the waters so she was on an equal level to fight with the rest of the group. Seeing Anthi tumble triggered Tefh to step in which gave Mika enough time to duck underneath and headbutt Tefh back for what she had done earlier. Tefh takes the headbutt like a champ, staggering back, but not even bothering to wipe the blood from under her nose; Tefh taps her eyepatch with her off-hand to sell the point. To trigger more people to fight Mika rushes in to try to attack Trunks which catches Shiva’s attention. Shiva rushed forward angry to see Mika putting her hands on Trunks which played right into what Mika wanted as she swung her leg kicking Shiva right in the chest.


It was obvious to the party that Mika liked to fight dirty which seemed to bother everyone on the team. As often as she could toss pipe bombs from her belt to try to take advantage of the party. Tefh turned her blade and stepped past Mika, cutting at the straps that hold her bomb pouch on her belt, then pivoting and bringing her blade down at Mika's back! Mika feels the blade slice open her shirt and cut her back as she falls to her knees. Scrambling once more Mika rushes towards Trunks to attack making Shiva act a little more carefully this time. Shiva slid underneath Trunks’ legs and with one swift movement, she stabbed her ice-cold staff into Mika's leg. With Shiva taking advantage of Mika Dorion used his own staff and matched Shiva's move and sending an electric current through Mika's Body. With Mika weakened by everyone’s continued attacks Dorion rushed forwards this time allowing his wings to pop out. Dorion raised Mika into the air and struck her down creating debris everywhere before the group. Mika staggers to get up and continues to fall to her knees. Was She giving up?!


Afraid that her power would be no match, Mika decided to take matters into her own hand, and she pulled a vile out from the inside of her shirt. The woman drank down the liquid fast and said that Death would reign Eorzea, and The Legacy would fall to their knees before her. Her body began to convulse as the area filled with a bright light. The liquid transformed Mika into a monster. The monster rushed towards Anthi and pinned her to the ground under its feet; she struggled to move. Concerned of her fellow Soldier Tefh rushed in to fight. She broke into a sprint and slammed herself shoulder-first into the leg that's holding Anthi down, driving her blade into it as she collides, the creatures fell back for a moment but focuses on oh Tefh. The monster also took a look at the party as it swung deeply at Trunks hitting him hard as well.

Trunks drop to his knees, his hand hit the bridge as he vomits up blood and alcohol. All at once to some, a familiar black fog begins to blow over the horizon and engulf him. In a few minutes as it clears there stands the familiar form. Armor is a reflection in that of Zaku and the smile of a psychopath that just can't get enough pain. He lifts the greatsword as he channels the darkness and leaps toward the monstrosity laughing maniacally. Shiva looks on nervously as Trunks strikes the monster. Trunks’ viciously attacks the creature that was once Mika Strikes Shiva down into the ground, knocking her down crashing into the water. Dorion rushed forwards to defend Shiva when his swords strike the chest of the creature; it hit Dorion in the rib cage knocking the wind out of him.


Finally able to break free from the creature Anthi comes back to fight. She quickly taps a few buttons a glass eye pops out into her hand. She quickly pushes in the iris and tosses the eye up. Suddenly it bursts and fills the creature with needles. The creature Shivers as it is filled with several needles; it swings its arms around insanely. Tefh grins and dives aside to let Anthi's toy do its thing. Her grin is quickly replaced with a gasp as the flailing arm catches her in the chest and sends her flying to the water several yalms, leaving her disoriented and sputtering as she tries to find her bearings. Seeing Tefh down Trunks decides to try and fight the creature but it sees Trunks and sends him flying into the water crashing close to where Shiva fell before. Shiva sees Trunks crash down before her as she rises up to her feet. Shiva spins in the water and around her feet water crawls onto her staff creating ice shards to match Anthi's needles from before! Dorion follows suit to help Shiva strike but as soon as he turns to the monster; its glowing white claw grabs him by the arm slamming him down into the ground dislocating his shoulder.


Trunks jumps to his feet wiping the blood out of his eyes and licking it from his hands as he continues to laugh. Dorion rushed behind Trunks causing a lightning storm to strike the creature while Trunks delivered the final blows to the monster. As the creature fell to its Death Mika returns to her former body bloodied and broken. She touches the face of Trunks, and he is filled with a vision. A vision of a girl carrying for a young blue-haired boy and his gentle laughter. Suddenly the vision cuts to war and the woman once more defending the boy as they made their way into what looked like Southern Thanalans. The vision of Death appears before them, and she watches as the Miqote and then now Teenage Blue Hair boy bow before her. A vision of the young man dying fills Trunks’ mind and the woman looks angry and seems to be screaming obscenities. As she took her last breath, she told Trunks all she wanted to do was avenge Delgado.


Normally Dorion tried to hold back but the tears fell from his stern face, Dorion turned away as he held onto his shoulder. Trunks walked over to check on Dorion and Dorion told Trunks how much guilt he was beginning to feel because he knew none of this would have happened if he never come to Eorzea in the first place. Trunks tells him that he can’t control the past and that they needed to worry about the future; time would heal his pain. As Dorion and Trunks talked about his pain they knew this would not be something he would want to talk about easily but, Trunks did hope in time that Dorion would open up more about this feeling.


As everyone find a space in the cabin, Shiva sees Trunks outside lost in thought. It was as if he was daydreaming and not with the party whatsoever. Shiva clings onto him bringing her lips to his as she plants a kiss on him. The kiss seems to break him out of the zone for now but, Shiva can sense that something isn’t right. Shiva questions what Trunks is feeling only to be met by his gentle hand holding her close and kissing her once more. Captivated by his kiss Shiva stays close to him for now. Dorion on the other hand questions his friends mind but for now let’s the two of them have this private kiss.
