Episode 22: Captive

Another day passed at the Hidden Springs where The Legacy found themselves recharging. Upon awakening Dorion noticed that Tarno was gone once more however, he had left a note that Zena called upon him to send him to another location. It would seem for now they were left with no direction. Dorion knew that once everyone was awake he could talk about what they were going to do. Mentally exhausted from the constant rush of things Dorion found himself looking at the water smoking another cigarette to himself. Dorion had a map traced in the sand of where he thought the group should go next but, for the moment he found himself in the bliss of the ocean air.


Shiva found herself once again walking along the shores keeping cool in the water while lost in her thoughts about the future. She wasn’t sure about a lot of the thoughts she had at the moment but, it had become too chaotic for her to take a breather. For now, the young girl’s focus was on the safety of her new friends and also the healing of Trunks. As Shiva wandered along the sands the small cabin door opened up. It would seem that Ruby had finally woken up. Shiva alerted Dorion who got up right away to meet with Ruby.



Ruby finally woke up and decided to meet with everyone outside the cabin and was delighted to feel her aura charged up. She could automatically see that Dorion and Shiva coming over to check on her. Ljrn was in a pleasant mood, wading in the water feeling happy that no one needed true medical treatment and so she found herself smiling from a distance. It would seem that Ruby was able to heal herself but, she knew that from now on she would have to be careful because these creatures were a bit different than most things she had faced before. Dorion agreed and felt that they would do their best to take precautions moving forward. While Dorion and Ruby discussed future plans it would seem that another of The Legacy was having an issue of his own.


Trunks found himself looking for metal scraps and wire from decade-old electronics along the beach to piece together an arm for himself however, his search wasn’t going as he anticipated. Sensing Trunks’ anxiousness, Shiva tries to talk to him and he shoos her away. As Trunks continued to search the junk piles, Shiva gestured to Dorion in hopes that he could do something. Dorion and Ruby get Trunks to finally sit around the fire to try and discuss what was really bothering Trunks. Trunks express to the group that he feels useless missing his arm and with the scrap he found, he wasn’t sure if it would be enough to be okay. Ruby suggests that she could do a spell that could bring back his arm while some of the members of The Legacy feel indifferent about it.

Ljrn knows the risk of such magick and feels that it is beyond her skills to make a limb grow back. As Ljrn explains how it is not possible Trunks also lets the other members know that he can’t seem to connect with his element since his huge attack against the Siren. This concerns Dorion however, Ruby intervenes and explains methods she is aware of. Ruby explains that she is a voidkin and due to her being she has abilities that would normally go unnoticed. She explains to Trunks that she can create a new arm for him but, with a price and risks. This magick would corrupt Trunks’ aether and at times turn it against him but, it would guarantee Trunks a new limb. Concerned with what that would do for Trunks Shiva questions what it would cost him. Ruby explains how giving Trunks the magick would be like charging a battery for her; anything Trunks touches with Aether would go right to hear and help sustain Ruby. It would seem that Trunks and Ruby came to an agreement and worked their charm by combining the aether remaining from the Siren’s heart and Wing.


As Ruby and Trunks work on their spell a call comes through their linkpearls. It would seem that a message was coming through. Dorion and the others were doing their best to hear the message however, Trunks Linkpearl seemed to be the best so he took the call. On the other end of the call was Dorion’s sister Zena. Zena was trying to explain that she was in route to Wineport because there was a report that there had been major Red Veil activity in that area. Knowing that his sister was on the line Dorion walked over to listen and hear what Zena had to say. As Zena tries to explain her discovery a bomb in the distance could be heard and the audio began to sound as if she was in a fight.


A sudden rage came over Dorion knowing that his sister was in danger and Shiva rushed to try to calm Dorion down. Ljrn also does her best to calm him down and Dorion tries to take a deep breath. However, as they try and calm him a male voice comes over the linkpearl threatening Dorion to hurry which brings back his rage again. The group understands the severity of the moment and does their best to rush ahead so that they can save Zena in time.


The group found their way up the long roads along Costa De Sol with no Red Veil members' insight. They follow a path that would take them to a small boat port that would easily have them stay off the main roads while they tried to keep contact to a minimum with The Red Veil. As Dorion searched for a safe way for the group to get on the boat Ljrn hummed a tune that caught Shiva’s interest. When Shiva asked about the song Ljrn explained that it was a song about loss and in times like this she sang such songs. Dorion knew that Ljrn was only trying to relate but the blood in his body was boiling; he already lost one sibling...he refused to lose another.


As the group made their way through the woods Trunks noticed that Dorion was struggling with something. Trunks noticed that the back of Dorion’s jacket was moving towards his shoulder blades. Trunks and Dorion have had many talks in regard to his “being” but not once had Trunks witnessed Dorion’s full being. Trunks knew that it was bothering Dorion and he suggested that he let out the “being” from within but Dorion felt that it was not the time and asked Trunks to not talk about it out loud for the moment. Trunks sighed but agreed for the time being.


As they got deeper into the woods, Dorion could sense his sister nearby so they began to tread more carefully. Ruby decides to help Dorion by using her vision to sense if whatever captured Zena was one of her own void creatures. As she tapped into her own magick she could see that it was not one of her own, but what she could feel inside the building with Zena was powerful. Shiva suggested for the moment they should not go out in the clearing until they could listen in for a few moments to see what was inside with Zena. As much as Dorion wanted to rush in and save her, Shiva was right to wait and see what would be with her.


Upon listening they could hear Zena talking to a man that capturing her was a big mistake. The man inside told Zena he was glad he captured her when he did because he wanted Dorion and The Legacy to show up so he could see what Death was up against. As the man spoke Dorion tried to tune into the voice that sounds so familiar to him. The voice was deep and reminded him of his past life on his other Crystal but, he could not identify the voice. The Legacy encouraged Dorion to listen further to see what they were up against. The man continued to speak to Zena and to tell her that her brother had softened up and that he would be no match for Death nor would the others.


Hearing the man say those words triggered Trunks and he rushed towards the building so that he could prove himself against the man inside. Following after to keep Trunks safe, the rest of The Legacy followed suit. Hearing the commotion the man told Zena to stay inside if she didn’t want to die while he spoke to Dorion and the others. Being careful to not risk her brother’s life or his friends Zena waited inside carefully. Coming out of the Cabin was a large Elezen man with white hair cascading out of a long ponytail. The minute the gentleman and Dorion locked eyes, it was clear to the group that Dorion knew who this was.


His name was Azazel and he was another one of Death’s Minions. Unlike many of the others, Azazel was the most loyal to her and would constantly do her bidding. When Dorion and his people came to Eorzea Azazel helped Dorion open the portal to this world. The man smiled slyly at the group and reminded them how it was good to see them here. He also mocked Dorion for assembling such a team so that Death could take out Eorzea’s strongest fighters in one swift attack. Trunks disagreed with Azazel and told him that they would take her down in no time.


The Elezen man looked down at Trunks and laughed at him comparing him to a child due to his height. Seeing Azazel mock Trunks Dorion asked one more time for Zena’s release or The Legacy would fight him. Azazel stretches before the group and raises his hand ready to fight the group. Ljrn notes to the group that this was probably one of Death’s challenges so they should take this battle against him seriously. Trunks however full of rage steps forwards and tries to do a lightning attack, however, his aether was not reacting. Out of fear Trunks looks for help from the group as Azazel grabs Trunks by the neck and tries to crush his throat. This attack triggers The Legacy to fight.


Seeing Trunks in Danger triggered Shiva to rush forward as she sent beams of ice towards Azazel. As the Elezen was blinded by her ice attack this gave Trunks a moment to fall back and join the rest of the party. Ruby pulled the blade from her back and pointed it towards the man and just concentrates her aether. Ruby fired a single orb at the man and watched as it explodes into a ball of spikes upon Azazel. She wanted full control of this man and she wanted to steal his aether and make him one of her minions instead of Death. Ljrn followed Ruby’s attacks with jets of water like liquid spears, that began to stab Azazel in multiple directions. Azazel would admit he was impressed with their skill but, it would be a matter of time before they fell down to him. Trunks tried to rush in with an attack of his own but, Azazel went and targeted Trunks’ new arms in hopes of breaking it. Seeing Trunks in danger, Shiva rushed forward and tried to strike Azazel but he grabbed her by her neck and tried to squeeze the life out of her. Azazel continued his merciless attack by digging his nails into her old scar and Shiva cried out in pain.


Ljrn bent water around Azazel to try to strike at the arm holding Shiva but, Azazel saw what she was trying to do. With his free hand, Azazel made an attack of hot water to shoot back at Ljrn. He turned his attention back to Shiva who was struggling to breathe. Dorion could see Shiva was in danger and tried to rush forward but, Azazel used his free arm again to slam his fist down onto Dorion’s shoulder blade so he could feel that deep pain once more. Seeing both Shiva and Dorion in danger awakens a new magick in Trunks as he stomps the ground out from his own back the wings of the siren appear before the group. It would seem that whatever Ruby and she worked on somehow made him attain a new ability. Trunks manage to send a sweeping attack against Azazel to knock him off of his feet and allow Shiva to break free. Feeling the momentum of Trunks rescuing, Shiva is finally free of Azazel. Shiva blows a kiss to Trunks and found herself stepping gently in the waters before raising her foot and stomping it down into the water. As she stomped down the water turned to ice and struck Azazel drawing blood from an open wound she created.


Dorion found himself as he rushed forward to try and strike the demon however Azazel swung behind Dorion and tore the back of his jacket and dug his nails into Dorion's shoulder blades. Dorion screamed in pain knowing what Azazel was trying to awaken. Dorion refused to tap into that magick and Azazel antagonized Dorion further to let it out. Seeing Dorion in danger, Shiva rushed forward and slammed her own body into Azazel moving him away from Dorion. She pushed forward with an ice attack and then used a ring of ice to hold Azazel in place for as long as she could. Seeing Shiva using her magick awoke an attack in Ruby to jump in and fight. Her eyes were a bright red as the aether in her began to flourish. With her hand, she reached up sent a blast of aether directly against the throat of Azazel himself. Azazel tried to look through the Red aether attack and tried to speak but for the moment Ruby left him speechless.


Ljrn followed Ruby by creating motes of fire around her and sent them flying straight at Azazel. Open wounds began to appear on Azazel and he growled at the party. With Azazel hurt, it would seem that Dorion could no longer hold back. Something was awakening in Dorion and he sent a beam of lightning towards the Elezen. Seeing that something was happening to Dorion Shiva rushed in and distracted Azazel by stabbing him with her staff. Ljrn decided to once again harness water, but this time, she used it to propel herself forward into close quarters with Azazel. As she arrived, she expertly swung her staff and cracked Azazel square in the face with the heavy head of the staff, the staff released a burst of magick with the impact. Azazel felt a bit dizzy from the strike from Ljrn he tried to shake it off. As Azazel fought the group he could see that Dorion was off to the side weak. Seeing Dorion on his knees Azazel snuck behind him and sent an aetherial bomb onto Dorion's exposed injuries. Dorion's breathing began to get extremely heavy as the cracking sound in his back became more prominent which considered members of The Legacy.


With Dorion hurt, Shiva, Ljrn, and Ruby began to follow suit by attacking Azazel at once. The three of them together thought that if they could take the lead with their attacks it would give Dorion a moment to get onto his feet. Seeing the girls fight, Dorion finally rises to his feet, and the area is filled with the wind as long black wings appeared from Dorions back. Dorion's eyes were red and he flew forward clawing away at Azazel. For a moment everyone stood back to witness something come out of Dorion that they did not see before. They knew because of the aether exchange Trunks had received wings from the Siren but, where did Dorion’s wings come from?!


Shiva could see Azazel falling back and with all her strength she used an ice attack and sent a beam of ice stabbing Azazel directly in the heart. Suddenly the demon fell to the ground. With Shiva’s attacking killing Azazel Ruby pulled out the ice, making sure that the man's heart came with it. From there she shoved the entire organ into her mouth and swallowed it whole. It would leave the party grossed out for a moment but, it reassured the group that Ruby’s powers were growing and with every evil creature, they killed they would be ready to face Death in no time. With Azazel defeated the group decided to go check on Zena.


Inside the cabin sat Zena waiting for the area to be safe. When Dorion and the others opened the door she ran forward in the excitement that Azazel was defeated. However, seeing her brother with his exposed wings made her gasp in shock. She told The Legacy that seeing this side of her brother brought hope that his magick was awakening further and that they would be able to face her father. Dorion and Trunks suggested that it would be best to go back to Fairytail so that they may plan a further plan to face Eden now that they had two new members in their group. Zena realized this as well and thought that she could talk to them in a more safe environment. Trunks also let her know that Dr. Winters was still attending to Jayne so it would be nice to check on her and see how she was fairing. They knew the risk of going back to Fairytail, but The Legacy felt like this was the right thing to do.
