Episode 31: Tidal Wave

The Legacy was still in Aleport resting up from their battle against Trunks; it would seem that in a matter of a few hours a lot had happened over time. While Oghul and Zakuro headed off once more, this left Shiva, Trunks, Leric, Anthi, and Dorion to be left behind once again. Upon their departure, Shiva and Trunks had a conversation that would change their future forever. Trunks asked for Shiva’s hand in marriage, and she said yes. Although there was no set time for a wedding just yet the two of them knew that in all of the chaos, they found each other and were happy that they would spend the rest of their lives together moving forward.


While the two rest comfortably in bed, another member of The Legacy was awake and already starting on his day. Considering the intensity of their battle with Trunks, Leric was the first to awake and found himself gathering what food and spices he had stored here from Fairytail. He had a considerable amount of food with him and, he was glad he stocked up when he did. Leric had enough food to make The Legacy one final meal before heading off to their next location. As Leric prepped a meal for everyone he felt the arms of Dorion wrap around him asking his Guardian if there was any assistance needed in the kitchen. Leric always enjoyed Dorion being nearby and although he could be a distraction at times Leric allowed for Dorion to assist in the cooking.


Meanwhile, back in the other room, some of the other Legacy members were beginning to wake up. Trunks returned from the showers he had found with his head wrapped in a towel and as he finishes drying his hair. When Trunks removed the towel and tossed it over a partition to dry he was seen with a shade of lavender in his hair. Prior to the grey hair the group met Trunks with, in his younger years he had light purple hair. Trunks felt good to have a part of himself back. Anthi was also awake now, sitting by herself at the table, her rifle in pieces, as she took extra care to clean and oil every piece that needed it. As Trunks and Anthi went about their morning another friend had returned, Tefh.


Tefh has returned from the Dregs, having made arrangements for her extended absence, and leaving orders with her Second for what to prioritize in the meantime. As she returned, she had received a report on everything that had happened during her time away. Tefh did her best to try and understand what she's been told happened during her absence. Trunks asked Tefh how things were with their crew during her time away. Tefh mentions how the group should be fine until their return but, she wasn’t sure how much longer they would be away.


The three of them discuss some things that were on their mind while also discussing how Oghul and Zakuro moved on once more. Trunks seemed to be content for now on the matter of them leaving again however to both Anthi and Tefh they could sense that there was something new on his mind. It wasn’t a bad feeling but more, so it seemed like he was unsure to speak on this new development. For the moment they decided it would be best to just chat amongst each other a little more casually until he was ready. Shiva began to wake up as well while the group spoke to each other; her hands now looking over the cuff that rested upon her wrist. For the moment she held a strong blush and wondered what the others would think. As they all stood around the aroma of food filled the room and Trunks said that everyone should go see what Leric and Dorion were up to.

Dorion watched as The Legacy filed into the room greeting the women and Trunks as they came to the table. Trunks teases Leric for looking chipper than he normally did; even questioning while a smile was on his face. Leric smirked back saying he wasn’t always doom and gloom but found happiness in preparing such meals and he was happy to cook for The Legacy. Dorion laughed at Trunks as he began to place plates of food onto the table. The dishes had delicious grilled vegetables and fish on them seasoned with spices from the East, a lot of care was definitely put into the meals and The Legacy was excited to dine on the food.


As the group eats their meal Trunks continues to playfully have a conversation with Leric and Dorion about what they were up to this morning. Dorion smirks and said that nothing happened between the two of them and that they just prepared food and discussed some plans for back when they returned to Fairytail. Leric decided to take an aim at Trunks by asking Shiva if she enjoyed her meal but asked what surname he should refer to her moving forward. Trunks began to mutter stuff under his breath as he was wondering how the two of them found out. Tefh and Anthi looked over to Shiva wondering what Leric was talking about.

Shiva gently placed her fork down and revealed the glowing purple bracelet on her wrist. Shiva explained that Trunks had asked for her hand in marriage and although they had no date set right now, she said yes. In time they would plan a small ceremony, but for now…Eorzea was their top priority. Everyone congratulated the couple but a few of the others noticed that even though they had something nice to celebrate they knew that the primals were looming around and it would be a matter of time before they were to show up. The group decided to ask Leric about what he has learned in his time away from Fairytail.


Leric tells the group that with Yue and Zena home, this gave Jai the opportunity to do some additional scouting while Leric was here with The Legacy. Leric learned that Jai had heard some things from the locals who lived around here. Apparently, Lady Death was sighted for just a moment as she had learned of what The Legacy had done to the Sahagian. Jai informed Leric that it was safe to say that she was unhappy to see how many were killed. Being that they destroyed so many of their warriors the remaining beastmen were slain and tossed into the ocean and some of their bodies had washed up upon the shore. The Winters brothers did not know if there are any survivors but, for her to take out a beast tribe so easily was concerning to them both, it was as if she has been planning something.

As the group discusses what they think Lady Death might be up to Shiva rises to her feet as if she hears something and stands by the door. Anthi asks if Shiva is okay, but she remains focused on the door. Leric looks as Shiva cups her ears; he points to the others as if she is listening for something specific. Trunks tries to speak to his fiancé but, her eyes turn white, and she yells for everyone to stop talking. Saint Shiva was fronting a bit through Shiva which brought major concern to the group; Saint Shiva only showed when she knew The Legacy was in grave danger. The ground began to shake violently and a roar so ear-piercing hit The Legacy head-on. It dropped everyone to their knees instantly. As they tried to gain their composure the ground shook harder and suddenly the building began to fill with water. Aleport was being hit with a Tidal Wave! Tefh tried to swim and shouted to the group to try and find a high ground. Shiva called out to Trunks as the waters pulled her outside. Scared and unsure of how to save everyone, Shiva used her magick to create a barrier of ice towards the edge of the dock. Channeling all the magick she could Shiva called out to the others and suddenly felt Dorion’s grip. He had finally had the chance to surface he took Shiva’s hand and climbed up. Dorion called for Leric and the others in fear of where they might be.


Tefh drew a dagger from her belt trying to keep herself on course for Shiva's ice, she swung and jammed the knife into the ice to secure a hold for herself. As soon as she got a stable hold, she looked up, trying to spot Anthi through the torrent of water blurring her vision. Anthi wanted to say something about how getting to higher ground is useless AFTER the wave had hit, but she couldn't get the words out. Instead, she got a mouth full of saltwater. Anthi tries desperately to grab onto something that's NOT moving but fails to do so. Instead, something hard hits, her in the back of the head and sends her under. And she doesn't resurface. Trunks manages to have some of his tech gear on him and summons a tech and in a matter of minutes it swoops down and picks him up.

The group continues to look for Anthi and Leric who were unaccounted for as the water still swirls violently around the ice Shiva created. As the group stands together a portal begins to appear. The portal opens up behind Shiva and something red spits out of it. It quickly takes the shape of a Miqo'te with a red hair and yellow eyes that glow as suddenly a massive shield erupts from her and envelopes the people still in the water. It would seem that Ruby has returned to The Legacy! Ruby tries her best to help Shiva create a barrier around them, but the ice begins to crack. It would seem that the two weren’t strong enough for such a force and the group is swept underwater.

A wave knocked the Legacy onto shore crashing them hard against the surface. Dorion let out a sharp yell once hitting land and Tefh felt something wrap around her wrist; a moon necklace was attached to her for the time being. The roar grew louder and out from the sea; a primal appeared before The Legacy. Ruby just stared at the creature before them and then looks over to the others. Dorion and the others looked on in shock while Shiva looked to the rest of the group; Shiva came to the conclusion that the sacrificed Sahagian must have been an offering and that was how Lady Death was able to bring Leviathan forward.


The Legacy knew that they would have to face the great primal and knew that this was going to not be an easy fight. Trunks was the first to feel Leviathan’s wrath as his tail came tumbling towards him. Tefh used the fact that Leviathan’s attention was on Trunks to dash close to the Primal, trying to get in close where it can't as easily hit her, scoring a strike against its serpentine body. Tefh's attack was just the beginning of many, but a wound was opened by Tefh. Still stunned by his rough entry to shore, Dorion could feel the wound of his own open and he did his best to control the bleeding; Dorion tied a scarf to his wound for now and used his staff to create an electric current to the wound that Tefh created. Leviathan growled deeply leaving the parties ears to ring more. Shiva watched as Leviathan focused on the others and Shiva skated forward trying to use her magick. Leviathan looked to Shiva and made a series of growls to her. His growls no longer sounded like growls, and she could hear the primal speak to her. He asked why Saint Shiva was trapped inside her to which Shiva looked to the other in shock that she was able to understand him.

Finally able to gain composure from an earlier strike, Trunks called on the hurricane winds surrounding the island and as he manipulated their invisible shapes into blades of wind then sent them down onto Leviathan’s neck pinning his head to the ground. Leviathan struggled to rise up as Trunks had him pinned down but, his eyes remained focused on the others. Dorion ran over to work on Leviathan's wound but Leviathan broke free from Trunks' hold and whipped Dorion removing the scarf from his injury exposing his injury once more. As Leviathan grew angrier with The Legacy his tail emerged from the water once more and his tail went right into Tefh’s way. Tefh sees the tail coming a moment too late, and even though she got her sword up to intercept, there was no way she could actually stop an attack with that much weight. The tail slapped her away from Leviathan's body, sending her tumbling across the sands like a ragdoll.


Shaken up by the battle Shiva tried to attack Leviathan as well but, it would seem he was a strong enemy. Every move that they tried to make would push them back further. Leviathan slapped Shiva along her back leaving her to yell out in pain Leviathan tells Shiva he is glad that Lady Death gave him the chance to rule the oceans once more which she tells The Legacy back as Leviathan poses a great danger. Tefh hears Shiva’s words and rushes back into the battle. She picked herself up off the sand, spitting sand and gritting out of her mouth before rushing back in to drive her blade into the open wound she had made before. Blood pours from Leviathan as he lets out another deep growl; Tefh would have a story to tell sailors someday.

Dorion finally rises to his feet and rushes in to attack Leviathan; targeting the opposite end of Leviathan, Dorion leaped into the air and stabbed directly into one of Leviathan's fins. Finally charged up and ready to go Ruby joins into the fight. Ruby focuses her magick and pulls her staff to her side and concentrates her aether. She stared at the giant snake and condensed the area around Leviathan and compiles more and more magick around Leviathan until the scales begin to shatter and blood spurts out from all of the new wounds. The Primal snapped at her only to feel her attack dig into his scales and the blood pouring down on everyone beneath him more. Between Tefh and Ruby…there was a lot of primal blood on the ground.


Shiva finally rises to her feet and starts to talk to Leviathan. Shiva pleads to Leviathan that aligning with Death will only cause destruction to their world. Shiva tries to convince Leviathan to return to the waters or join alongside The Legacy in order to kill death, he would not need to be a member but a primal willing to be by their side. Leviathan mocks the young mage and lets her know he would never join forces with them. Shiva is sad but knows that Leviathan leaves her no choice but to fight him. Shiva uses her magick to create daggers to toss at Leviathan to help aide the others in the fight against him.

As the battle continues it would seem that Trunks once again had something up his sleeve. Trunks had his latest invention drop and tilt upward the trigger seemed tighter than normal so he wrapped a chain through the trigger guard and yanked it back. The anchor shot out at an absurd speed as the chains connected and wrapped around Leviathan’s scales. The Chain was wrapped around Leviathan’s neck causing more wounds to open. As the fight against Leviathan continued, The Legacy could feel a shift in energy with Leviathan as they weakened him it would seem Leviathan had a plan for them as well.

Tefh saw the chains as an opportunity to scale up the primal, using the daggers as a handhold, stabbing him over and over as she makes her up towards his head. Leviathan could feel Tefh's attack and as Leviathan bled more, he continued to charge his next move; whatever Leviathan was planning was coming soon however, no one knew what that was. Dorion's shirt was soaked in his own blood once more; he knew if Leric was here he would be pissed after what had happened only a few nights ago. Dorion with all his might continue to fight Leviathan this time following Tefh's move and striking Leviathan in the head...maybe if they were lucky, they could decapitate him. Shiva took her hand grabbing her weapon and running her staff along the sand. As her staff touched the sand, she uses a small patch of water to gather into the sand; ice pellets struck Leviathan's body suddenly he begins to glow.


Leviathan's body begins to glow a bright light and suddenly the Primal is transformed in front of the group. The once ocean serpent now looked like an Au Ra male with chains and fabric cleaning every muscle on his body. For a moment everyone was stunned to see this new side to the primal however, they knew he was a huge risk to the party moving forward. Dorion struggled to move but continued to fight alongside the party. Baring his fangs, Dorion rushed forward knocking Leviathan into the sand clawing at the primal's chest. Leviathan growled back in pain leaving Dorion to hold his ears. Even in this human-like state, the growl of the beast was still strong. Ruby focused on Leviathan and charged forward and swung her staff almost as if it were a giant club, but in a blazing inferno surrounding her, she landed not the staff on the man's side, but rather the blade of a rather large sword. All as her clothing vanishes and is replaced with a suit of fresh armor.

Following Ruby’s attack, Shiva took her staff once more and ran towards Leviathan; He held her wrist to try to pin her down only to feel his grip numb as Shiva has turned his hands into a block of ice. With all her might she pushed back and stabs her staff deep into his left leg. Leviathan lets out a growl that pushes everyone back while she stood face to face with him not moving. Leviathan questioned how Shiva could stand with the creatures that killed her once before but, Shiva reminded him that she was not the primal he knew. The Saint within her only came to the surface when called and Shiva was her own person.


As Shiva and Leviathan fought Trunks tried to jump into the fight but instead got pinned down and stepped upon by Leviathan. Trunks being hurt by Leviathan got Shiva’s attention right away and Leviathan was amused by her worry. Tefh did not like to see that and grabbed her weapons once more and fought against Leviathan, cutting low at the man's leg with a sweep of her longsword. Leviathan falls back and feels his skin beginning to break. Just as before it bled but not as bad as when he was in serpent form. Leviathan took the opportunity to move forward and grab Dorion and slam him to the ground with his foot he raised it to the air and stomped down hard causing Dorion's wound to bleed further. Dorion yells out in pain as he tried to crawl away.

With a smirk Ruby steps forward, the sword dragging along behind her before she channels her aether into the weapon. Ruby brings the weapon high over her head and slams it deep into Leviathan's shoulder. Shiva sees that Leviathan is too focused on the party and Shiva's eyes narrow to Leviathan. She tries to plee with Leviathan once more to stop but he has no intention to do so; nothing that Shiva would say would convince him to give up the fight. Angry by Leviathan's words Shiva takes her staff and cuts a deep wound along his chest.


Tefh got back into the fight and angled her blade flat as she grits her teeth against her own pain and lunged at Leviathan, aiming to turn the primal through. Leviathan falls back from Tefh's blade striking him, With Leviathan focused on Tefh. With Leviathan’s focus on Tefh Shiva dropped her staff flew into the air and dropped down on Leviathan tearing at his skin. Leviathan angered by Shiva grabs her and tosses her into the others out of frustration. Seeing Shiva thrown bothers Tefh, and she uses Shiva’s necklace she was holding onto to call upon Saint Shiva.


The ground around them grew colder than before and Saint Shiva is with the group once more. Saint Shiva winks to Trunks and then looks over to Ruby and Tefh before focusing in on Leviathan. Shiva blows a cold kiss to Tefh and uses her ice to hold Leviathan down. Tefh nods, pivots, and without hesitation or ceremony, separates the primal's head from its torso. The primal Leviathan head falls into the ocean leaving the body to drop to the ground. As the body begins to glow Saint Shiva reaches deep into Trunks Pants pocket while winking at him and she pulls out the White Auracite he normally carried. Saint Shiva traps the remaining aura of Leviathan inside making sure that Lady Death would not be able to summon Leviathan ever again.


The group stood together silently while Tefh sat in the sand looking towards the ocean. She was happy like the rest to defeat Leviathan but, her heart was still heavy and wondering where Anthi was. Dorion agreed with Tefh that Anthi and Leric needed to be found and fast. Trunks instantly summons his mount and heads to the ocean in search for the two of them.

While Trunks searches the waters, Shiva and the others commend Tefh for her strength against such a beast. Dorion also take the time to apologize to Ruby that this was an insane way for her to come back but, Ruby smirks and says it was exhilarating. While Trunks is out in the ocean, he finds Leric trying to use his linkpearl but, it would seem that the water destroyed it. Trunks brings Leric to the island were everyone stood, and he says to Tefh he looked hard for Anthi, but the waters were still so rough, it was hard to find her.

For now, The Legacy decides alongside Tefh that at first light they would go and search for Anthi but, they needed to go somewhere and heal up. Leric says to Tefh that he will even bring his brother into the search because Jai is a good tracker and he can find anyone with no problems. Tefh thanks Leric for his honesty and hopes that he will help her find Anthi. For the moment, Ruby opens a portal back to Fairytail for now and fears even what she would be going back to considering she left Ljrn and Zena.
