Episode 26: Returner: Yami No Shuuen

After a long journey home, The Legacy has returned to Fairytail...There is still a silence among some of the members. The battle against Eden was on and what happened so fast took place over a few hours. As soon as The Legacy stepped down on the grounds of Fairytail, there was a heaviness in the air. Shiva kept her eyes on Dorion who seemed to be in no rush to go inside. Shiva looked to the rest of the group but, they took were scoping out the Guildhall to see if there was any damage done.

Ljrn automatically looked at the structure and saw that there were no damages to the building, the garden or the main entryway of the home. As she looked around, she mentioned how the infirmary was her concern after she had put much effort into keeping it organized during their time there so far. While Ljrn looked at the lands Dorion, unpacked the medical supplies and items they had taken with them to Mor Dhona. Ruby insisted on helping him but, he kept to himself for the moment. Ruby reminded him that Jayne was inside waiting and was probably eager to see him. Dorion smirked and acknowledged her words but, there seemed to be something deeper on his mind at the time. He knew the person he longed for awaited him but there was a feeling of uncertainty waiting over him.


The first person to walk back into Fairytail was Trunks, he walked in and took a deep breath listening for anything out of the ordinary. Upon Entering Fairytail the smell of charcoal and vanilla filled the air. All crystal lanterns that hung on the wall flickered violently as if the magick within them were unstable. From the initial sight, it would seem that the upstairs was untouched and that most of the chaos happened downstairs. Shiva even pointed out that there was a bloody handprint on the doorway that led down to the infirmary and bathing rooms. The handprint on the door was an alert to Ljrn and she marched quickly down the stairs to the infirmary to see what was going on. Ruby sighs wondering if they were going to get some time to relax but, it would seem that it would not be for a little while longer.

As The Legacy opened the door to the infirmary Jayne and Leric stood before them battered and bruised from what seemed like a strong battle. Leric had claw marks along his chest while blood was also falling down him. Jayne stood tall trying to hold Leric up as best as she could with the strength that she had but, she had just awoken from a long slumber so she could only do so much. Confused and scared Jayne looked at everyone cautiously but, with Leric’s grip tightening on her hand, she could tell that he was letting her know it was going to be okay. Ruby asked Leric if he was alright as Ljrn felt that she needed to look into what supplies she had by heading over to the back counters. Leric nodded while coughing a bit of blood from his mouth out into a cloth and reminded everyone that as soon as he took time to rest, he would hopefully be up and running again.


Jayne noted how she wanted to help Leric but, with her body just jolted awake her hands were very unstable to stitch him or she would have herself. Trunks jokes with Leric saying he looks healthy as ever which prompted Leric to chuckle a bit even if it hurt. As everyone spoke to Leric, Jayne could not help but try to take a good look at everyone before her. Shiva could sense she was nervous and asked Jayne if she was okay and she asked if Dorion was with them? Trunks explained that Dorion was outside bringing in their supplies and seemed to be a bit lost in his thoughts at the moment. The Legacy explained to Jayne that they had fought against Eden and Dorion seemed to have conflicting feelings in the matter at the moment.


Jayne was taking back in the hearing of Eden’s defeat; she thought she would never hear that he had fallen. Leric noted that with Eden out of the picture it would most likely restore some balance and any remaining Red Veil members would either fall back into society or go into hiding themselves. Shiva could see that Jayne’s mind was trying to process a lot and she walked over to see if she could do anything for her to help her feel okay after awakening. Jayne surprisingly studied Shiva’s face telling the group she looked familiar but not under the name she heard everyone saying. Shiva explained a little of her situation to Jayne which caused her to shake her head in the confusion of all that she was hearing. Leric reminded Jayne that when she had passed on Hydaelyn took her power and had the people before her take parts of that power so that they could bear arms against the danger she left behind. Jayne smiled knowing that during her time away that the group before her was able to accomplish so much.


As the group expressed their feelings about the matter of Eden with Jayne. Ljrn on the other hand attended to Leric as best as she could. Considering the damage, he had experienced he was calm as she did what she needed to do. Leric laid back on the bed allowing her to analyze what medical supplies she needed to take care of him. Judging by his condition she needed to be a bit hands-on and decided to change out of her armor into something a little bit easier to maneuver with. While Ljrn got into something easier to work with a loud slam could be heard upstairs which could only mean one thing…Dorion finally came inside.

Upstairs Dorion could hear that Trunks was already tinkering in the crafting room which made a part of him feel that there were only minor things downstairs in the living quarters. His eyes squinted as he saw the bloody handprint on the door, and he walked over to look at it. The scent was common to him, one of his kind which meant Leric probably got into a scuffle with Death…but how bad was it down there. Trying to remain strong Dorion took a deep breath and tried his best to calm himself before walking down the stairs. Each step down the stairs his legs felt heavier almost fearful to open the infirmary door. Upon his approach, Ljrn was back with some new clothes and the two of them opened the door together.

Upon opening the door, Dorion could see Jayne standing there on her two feet…water already forming in her eyes. Without hesitation, Dorion pulled her into his arms and held her tightly against him. Legacy members Shiva and Ruby watched on smiling letting the two of them have this moment; after all, it was long overdue. As Dorion held Jayne he continued to whisper into her ear leaving everyone curious to what was being said. As they continued to speak privately to each other the life returned to her eyes and her fears faded away. It would seem by the two of them pulling apart they seemed to agree of what they felt.


Jayne stayed closed to Dorion and shared how grateful she was to The Legacy. She explained how she was tortured for so long and to finally be able to live once more was a breath of fresh air. She knew that right now everyone was tired and that when the time was right, they would go more in-depth into what really happened and how manipulated she was by Death and her sisters. In the midst of the moment, Shiva asked Jayne what happened when she woke up at Fairytail. At first, she was afraid to speak but once she made eye contact with Leric she felt safe too. At first, everything was blurry to her but when she opened her eyes, she saw Leric look at her in shock unsure of how she was able to move once more. The next thing she knew she heard Death’s laugh and Leric ran up the stairs ready to defend her safety. When she was finally coherent and able to stand, she could hear the chaos upstairs, and then finally she saw Leric trying to come down the stairs wounded. Death and Leric were fighting over items and before she disappeared, she left a book on the counter of the infirmary.


Ruby walks over and takes a look at it and sees that it is a book about the Crystal tower. Even though there was nothing too significant about the book she cannot help but notice that there is a powdery substance all on the page. Unafraid of what was in the book, Ruby daringly takes a taste of the powder; it has a sweet, yet floral taste and she wondered if Death touched something with this prior to leaving the book behind. Dorion mentioned how there are many plans within the walls of Fairytail but, his sister’s personal chamber held the most flowers which made him assume death was there before. The group decides to head to Zena’s room while Ljrn decides to stay behind with Leric to tend to his wounds. Shiva also decides to retire for the evening as she is not feeling well which prompts Leric to observe her. Ljrn sees this as an opportunity to speak with Leric alone.

Now that Ljrn was out of her restrictive attire she felt with everyone out of the way she would be able to attend to Leric’s wounds. With her left hand, she numbed the area around the wounds and began to use needles and sutures to heal the damage that was caused. As she cleaned his injuries she asked if he was poisoned at all in which Leric responded with an honest no. As Ljrn attends to Leric she expresses to him that her next target to do an examination on is Shiva. She explains how she keeps getting targeted in her waist and her wounds keep reopening in that location. Leric agrees and explains that when she was Selene how she was stabbed to death in that location by Eden.


As she wraps Leric in bandages, Leric expresses that he wonders if it has to do with her dormant primal powers. Ljrn expresses that although she does not have much experience with primals and magick of that nature there are some things she can do in the meantime. Ljrn also asks Leric about his time as a doctor. Happy to talk about his profession Leric explains that he was practicing medicine in his other world with Dorion and the others and only had a years’ worth of Eorzean knowledge when the world was beginning to fall apart.

With concerns of the powers within Leric suggests that he do some research and see a little later on if he could look into Shiva’s aether with the help of some of the others. Ljrn agrees with that being a good idea that the two of them could work together. Medically she could do things that he could not and if the two of them could work on Shiva’s condition together, it would be a matter of time before they would have an answer to what is happening. For the time being Ljrn and Leric would have time to discuss their ideas while the others would be in Zena’s room to look for the botanical powder that was found.


The Legacy walked down the hall to the fifth room to look for Zena. Dorion gently knocked on the door to hear her respond with a gentle come inside. Zena sat on her bed with smudged makeup on her eyes as if she were crying for a while. As soon as The Legacy walked in with Jayne a large gasp escaped Zena as she ran into her arms. She began to cry once more, happy to see her standing on two feet. The two spoke to each other in a happy embrace before she finally let go and greeted everyone else in the room. Ruby walked over and wiped the remaining make up off her eyes and uses magick to freshen her face once more. Zena smiles and winks at Ruby enjoying their bond grow; Zena was happy to see her here.

Zena curiously asks why everyone came to her room so late in the evening and Ruby explained that they were in search of something important. Ruby shows Zena the book on the crystal tower with the powdery substance inside and how Zena may know what the substance inside was. Zena took the book from Ruby to look at it and it looked like common pollen from a plant. As she brought the book to her nose, she knew that it was pollen from a rose. Zena showed them the Trellis she has installed in her room and pointed out that when she came home, she had noticed a few were ripped down. She also mentioned how some of her parchment and ribbons were missing which made her curious as to why Death would want those items as well.


Trunks suggests that Death is playing a game with them and is leading them somewhere else by leaving all of these clues behind. Dorion sighs and wonders what kind of game she is playing but, he was beginning to get bothered by the scavenger hunt she had put them on. Ruby wonders if someone had died here before which is why she took the flowers, but Jayne explains that no one has ever died here in all the years of her living here. They decide as a group that wherever Death went with the flowers was somewhere in the house. For now, they would let Zena get to bed after she used a ton of magick to attack her father. Ruby promised Zena that the two would hang out again soon which brought more smiles to Zena face as she let Ruby know, she looked forward to hanging out again soon.


As The Legacy headed back to the main hall, they were reunited with Ljrn who said that Leric was resting in the infirmary so she decided to see what everyone was up to. Trunks explains to Ljrn that at the moment Death had left her mark throughout the house and they were currently looking for some flowers and parchment that she stole from Zena. Dorion added that as silly as it was Death had an obscure way of expressing herself. As Jayne and the others searched the main floor, Trunks found himself in the library checking out some of the common sights. While in the Library he found the flowers positioned right on top of the fireplace.


As they find the flowers Jayne also notices that a particular book is missing from the bookshelf. It would seem that a book about primals was missing and how in trying times the beast-men would turn to them for safety. Ljrn mentions that with the Red Veil diminishing that it would be a matter of time before the beastmen and Death would try to resurrect primals to fight them. As the group spoke of primals being used against them it was as if a spark was lit in Trunks mind that Shiva too had something dormant in her. Would she try and hurt them? As they questioned their friendship with Shiva a laugh and the smell of charcoal filled the halls of Fairytail.


Death stood outside the library leaving the group partially frozen in fear that she was still here. A haze filled the halls leaving around frozen in place while she slowly walked down the stairs of the grand hall. It would seem that Death was amused with their discovery of her plan and even though they were just finding this out, she wanted them to know she was a million steps ahead of them. As she walked her way out of the building, a silence fell over the group while Trunks found himself rushing off to protect Shiva who he hoped was in her room. For now, Ljrn, Ruby, and Dorion stood in silence knowing that Trunks would have to bespoke to before the night was over.
